Hi, I am Anissa. Welcome to my private practice.
As a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I offer a supportive and compassionate space to explore a wide range of psychological and emotional concerns at your own pace.
I am a trauma informed therapist, having trained with the Trauma Research Foundation. In addition, I have specialised training in supporting adults impacted by adoption, through a program delivered by the Albany Centre in collaboration with the Barnardo’s charity. This includes working with adults adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents and adults with lived experience of foster care, children’s homes or under a guardianship order.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the professional body that upholds ethical standards in counselling and psychotherapy across the UK.
Have you ever experienced anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, abuse, loss, trauma, or bereavement, among other difficulties?
Therapy provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental private space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour patterns.
Together, we will work to uncover and understand aspects like your self-concepts and core beliefs, your relationship dynamics and your developmental history as well as what arises between us during our therapeutic sessions.
While this journey can be both rewarding and challenging, it encourages self-reflection which, in turn, will help you to develop greater self-awareness and acceptance. These are crucial steps toward gaining new perspectives, improving your life, and feeling more empowered. As you gain more control over your internal world, this process can be truly transformative.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule an initial appointment.
I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Relational-based and Attachment-based theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Gestalt and more, which I adapt to meet the unique needs of each client.
Based on my professional judgement, I may also suggest specific interventions to be used during or between sessions, as part of the therapeutic process to deepen exploration.
With a broad range of professional and personal experiences, I am able to work with individuals across all age groups, from children and teenagers to adults and older adults. I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS, ensuring safety and trust.
I am also culturally aware, open and sensitive to diversity which enables me to support individuals from different ethnic backgrounds, those who identify outside the gender binary and all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Additionally, I am trauma informed as well as trained to work with adult adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents and any adults who have experienced life in children's homes, foster care or under a guardianship order.
