Hello, my name is Anissa Sedira. Welcome to my private practice. I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist who is able to support you with a range of issues.
I am also trained, in accordance with UK Adoption laws, to provide support to adult adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, and any adult who has lived in a children's home, in foster care or under guardianship.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the body overseeing the counselling profession in the UK.
Have you ever suffered from anxiety, depression, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, abuse, loss, trauma, bereavement, amongst others?
The therapeutic work involves exploring, in a non-judgemental, confidential, private space, your thought, feeling and behaviour processes to identify and understand, amongst others, your self-concepts and core-beliefs, your relationship patterns, your developmental history, etc, plus what occurs between the two of us in the session.
This process, albeit rewarding but also at times, difficult and challenging, involves self-reflection to help you in your journey of self-awareness and acceptance, necessary attributes to gain new perspectives and improve your current life experiences. It can also be hugely empowering and, as you gain more control over your internal world, life changing.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or to arrange an initial appointment.
My work draws on a wide range of modalities like Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Attachment-based theories, CBT, Gestalt, and more, which I tailor according to my clients’ needs. I might also, according to my professional judgement, suggest interventions (to be done in and/or outside the sessions). These are a means to explore further and form an integral part of the therapeutic process.
I also have a wide range of professional and personal life experiences which allows me to work with children/teenagers, adults and older adults (I have an up-to-date Enhanced DBS). I am also culturally aware, open and sensitive to diversity which enables me to work with people from different ethnic backgrounds, with people who identifies outside of the gender binary and with anyone from the LGBTQ+ community.
I am also trained to work with adult adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents and any adult who has lived in a children's home, in foster care, or under guardianship.
